Minecraft Reaches Switch 2 in October with an Upgrade Path for Existing Players

Mojang has confirmed that Minecraft will launch natively for Nintendo Switch 2 on October 27. The game was already playable on the new system through backward compatibility, but this edition is designed to use the newer hardware more fully. Its headline feature is Vibrant Visuals, a graphics option that adds improved lighting, shadows, and related effects. The enhancement will not work in every situation: split-screen play and some Marketplace worlds or content will remain outside its support. Nintendo's Super Mario Mash-Up pack will receive the visual upgrade. Existing Switch owners will have a digital upgrade path, while their saved worlds and progress will carry over. Mojang has not yet said whether that upgrade will be free or paid, so current players will need to wait for the remaining details.
