Xbox Sets a Four-Pillar Plan to Return Its Gaming Business to Growth

Xbox chief Asha Sharma has outlined a new strategy designed to reverse a 7% annual revenue decline in Microsoft's gaming division. The plan is organized around four priorities: strengthening the platform with console at its center, turning successful games into global franchises, expanding Minecraft as a creator platform, and extending Xbox worlds across more forms of entertainment. Sharma acknowledged that Xbox reached a much larger audience without converting that reach into comparable business growth. Management expects the first stage of the recovery to show results by the end of fiscal 2027. The company also intends to focus development around its strongest franchises and major new ideas while building longer-term opportunities across games, film, television, products, live experiences, and other partnerships.
