Prison Architect 2 Holds New Closed Beta Test Following Extended Delays

Paradox Interactive is making progress on the long-delayed strategy sequel Prison Architect 2 by hosting a new closed beta test this September. Running from September 9 to September 15, this playtest represents one of the few official updates on the game's development since it was postponed indefinitely back in 2024. Participants selected for the playtest are required to sign a non-disclosure agreement, meaning no public details or impressions will be shared from the test period. The game original suffered multiple launch postponements throughout 2024, leading the publisher to halt pre-orders and offer full refunds so the development team could focus on improving performance and expanding core content. While it remains uncertain whether an open playtest will follow, the news of an active closed beta suggests that the studio is working toward finalizing the game and eventually assigning a new official release date.
