Report: Black Ops 1 and 2 PlayStation Ports Sell 11 Million Copies Combined

A report citing industry analyst Rhys Elliott estimates that the recently released PlayStation versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops and Black Ops 2 have sold more than 11 million copies combined in under a month. The estimate puts Black Ops 2 at about 8.2 million copies and the first game at roughly three million, for nearly $435 million in combined PlayStation revenue. Both titles arrived on PS4 and PS5 on July 9 as 1080p ports with campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies rather than full remakes. The report attributes much of the result to pent-up demand, since neither game had previously been available through backward compatibility on PS4 or PS5. These are analyst estimates, not official sales figures from Activision or Microsoft, but they point to continued appetite for classic Call of Duty releases when they reach new audiences on current platforms.
